After World War II, Korea was split between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The United States took over the southern half and Soviet Union took over the northern half. North Korea has established a communist government because of the Soviet Union and South Korea became a democracy because of United States. At first when Korea was split it was meant to be temporary until United States and Soviet Union could make a truce. Korea then had the Cold War and Korea decided to stay North Korea and South Korea in 1948. North Korea and South Korea are both very different from politics to economies to social systems. They had a war when North Korea attacked South Korea making them have more conflict and tear away from each other in 1950.
